SensitHaptics Gen 1 vs Gen 2 vs Gen 3: What's the Difference?

Three generations of Seat Haptics. Continuous innovation. One powerful software platform.

At SensitHaptics, we believe that great SimRacing haptic feedback is about more than powerful vibrations. It's about delivering the right information, at the right moment, with the precision needed to truly feel what your virtual race car is doing.

From our first-generation hardware to the latest Gen 3 featuring our proprietary Apex Ultra™ actuators, we've continuously improved our technology, materials, electronics, comfort and software.

But what exactly has changed between Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3?

And do owners of older generations still benefit from our latest software?

Let's break it down.

Gen 1: Where Our Seat Haptics Journey Began

Our first generation marked the beginning of our journey into professional SimRacing Seat Haptics.

Originally developed as a white-label product for Nitro Concepts, Gen 1 brought our haptic technology to the SimRacing community through the Nitro Concepts Immersion Metahaptics product line.

The objective was clear: Create an accessible, plug-and-play haptic feedback system that allows SimRacers to experience vehicle information directly through their seats.

Gen 1 established the foundation of our technology and gave us valuable insights into real-world usage, reliability and customer expectations.

Key Features of Gen 1

  • First-generation haptic hardware developed for Nitro Concepts
  • Original cover materials and construction
  • 3D-printed protective enclosure for the electronics
  • First-generation PCB design
  • No shoulder pad
  • Compatibility with the new SensitHaptics Cockpit App V2

Gen 1 was our starting point, but the technology behind it was designed to evolve.

Gen 2: Premium Materials, Improved Comfort and Electronics

With Gen 2, we focused on making our Seat Haptics system more refined, durable and comfortable.

Based on customer feedback and our growing experience, we introduced several improvements across the product.

Premium Covers and Memory Foam Comfort

One of the most noticeable upgrades was the introduction of higher-quality covers.

These premium materials improved the overall feel and finish of the product.

Gen 2 also introduced our Shoulder Pad featuring premium Memory Foam, designed to provide additional comfort during long SimRacing sessions.

This was an important step in transforming our technology from a functional haptic system into a more premium SimRacing product.

A More Robust Electronics Design

The improvements went beyond the visible materials.

We redesigned and refined our PCB with a focus on long-term reliability, durability and consistent performance.

We also replaced the original 3D-printed electronics enclosure with a more robust metal case.

Key Improvements in Gen 2

  • Higher-quality premium covers
  • Introduction of the Shoulder Pad
  • Premium Memory Foam for enhanced comfort
  • better foam design for better comfort
  • Upgraded PCB design focused on long-term durability
  • Professional wiring harness -> higher-quality appearance
  • more durable with seat belt tensioner
  • Metal electronics enclosure replacing the 3D-printed case
  • a version for XL seats with an XL Extension Pad
  • Continued refinement of our haptic technology
  • Full compatibility with SensitHaptics Cockpit App V2

Gen 2 represented a significant step forward in product quality, comfort and engineering.

Gen 3: Introducing Apex Ultra™ and the Next Level of Seat Haptics

Gen 3 represents our most advanced Seat Haptics hardware generation yet.

While Gen 2 focused heavily on materials, comfort and reliability, Gen 3 takes our hardware development even further with the introduction of Apex Ultra™, our proprietary haptic actuator technology.

Developed in-house, Apex Ultra™ is designed to deliver the precision, responsiveness and performance that advanced SimRacing demands.

Apex Ultra™: Our Own Haptic Technology

Apex Ultra™ is more than just another actuator.

It's the result of our continuous development of haptic hardware specifically for SimRacing applications.

Our goal is not simply to generate stronger vibrations. It's to create meaningful, detailed and controlled haptic feedback that helps drivers better understand what their virtual race car is doing.

Whether it's road texture, engine feedback or the onset of wheel slip, the objective remains the same: Deliver a more immersive and informative driving experience.

Continuous Electronics Improvements

With Gen 3, we've continued improving our PCB architecture and electronics.

As with every generation, long-term reliability, durability and consistent performance remain central to our hardware development.

Gen 3 also retains the premium covers, metal electronics enclosure and Memory Foam Shoulder Pad introduced with Gen 2.

Key Highlights of Gen 3

  • Proprietary Apex Ultra™ actuator technology
  • Latest-generation PCB improvements
  • Continued focus on electronics durability and reliability
  • Premium covers and materials
  • Metal electronics enclosure
  • Shoulder Pad with premium Memory Foam
  • Compatibility with SensitHaptics Cockpit App V2

Gen 3 combines years of product development with our latest hardware innovations.

One Software Platform. Three Hardware Generations.

Here's something we're particularly proud of: Every generation of our Seat Haptics hardware can benefit from our latest software.

With the release of the SensitHaptics Cockpit App V2 on October 30, 2026, Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3 owners will all be able to use our latest software platform.

That means you don't need to purchase Gen 3 hardware just to access our latest software innovations.

What's New in Cockpit App V2?

Our V2 software introduces a new level of control and customization for SimRacing haptic feedback.

Highlights include:

  • Plug & Play: Get started quickly with ready-to-use configurations.
  • Advanced Customization: Fine-tune your haptic effects to your personal driving preferences.
  • Wheel Slip: Adjust effect thresholds and feedback behavior to better identify traction changes.
  • Engine Haptics: Customize engine feedback for different vehicle characteristics, including V6, V8 and GT3 configurations.
  • Road Texture & Road Impact: Separate road surface details from larger impacts for more controlled feedback.
  • Telemetry Visualization: Better understand and adjust the relationship between telemetry data and haptic effects.
  • Audio Integration: Additional possibilities for audio-based haptic feedback.
  • Performance Optimization: An architecture designed for efficient processing and low-latency feedback.

Software is one of the most important parts of a great Seat Haptics system.

The hardware creates the physical feedback. The software determines what information is delivered, when it is delivered and how it feels.

That's why we develop both.

Three generations of hardware. One evolving software platform.

Do You Need to Upgrade to Gen 3?

Not necessarily.

If you already own Gen 1 or Gen 2 hardware, you can continue using your system and benefit from our latest Cockpit App V2 software.

Gen 3 offers our latest hardware technology, including Apex Ultra™ and further electronics improvements.

But our philosophy is simple: Software innovation should not automatically require new hardware.

We want existing customers to benefit from our ongoing development while giving performance-focused SimRacers the opportunity to experience our most advanced hardware.

The Future of SensitHaptics

From our first white-label product with Nitro Concepts (Gen 1) to our latest Gen 3 technology, our mission has remained unchanged:

Make virtual racing feel more real.

Every generation represents the experience we've gained from developing hardware, working with the SimRacing community and continuously refining our software.

We're proud of how far we've come.
